Syncaut connects to Meta Ads using a System User access token from your Meta Business Settings. This is a one-time setup that doesn't expire the way personal login tokens do.
You'll need: admin access to a Meta Business Manager account that has your ad account(s) added. If you don't have a Business Manager yet, create one free at business.facebook.com first — Meta will prompt you to add your ad account during setup if it isn't already there.
In the left sidebar, click Users → System Users
Click Add to create a new System User
Name it something clear, e.g. "Syncaut Automation"
Role: Admin (needed to manage campaigns and budgets)
Click Add Assets on your new System User
Select your ad account(s) under the "Ad Accounts" tab
Grant Manage campaigns permission
Click Generate New Token on the System User
Select your app (or create one — any name works, it doesn't need App Review for this)
Select these permissions: ads_management, ads_read, business_management
Click Generate Token
Copy the token — you won't be able to see it again, so paste it somewhere safe temporarily
In Syncaut, go to Credentials → New Credential, select Meta Ads, and paste the token
That's it — this token stays valid until you manually regenerate or revoke it in Business Settings.
"Couldn't reach this account" error in the node: Double check the System User was granted access to the specific ad account you're trying to use (step 4), not just created — a System User with no assigned assets can authenticate but won't see any ad accounts.
Token stopped working: Someone may have regenerated or revoked it in Business Settings. Generate a new one and update the credential in Syncaut.
